Canon EOS R5 Mark II deliveries have already started

There's still plenty of stores (including Canon themselves) advertising 08/20 shipping / delivery. The vendor I bought from (Procam) is still saying "Buy now to receive August 20".
Advertising availability of the preorder isn't the same thing as saying "buy now receive August 20th." No idea who "Procam" is, but I bet they aren't a direct retailer (meaning they go through wholesale); I'm sure there will be a lot of the smaller wholesale places that will have inventory.

I pre-ordered from Canon just after midnight when sales opened. Two days ago, I woke up to a fraud alert on my CC and an email from Canon saying my order was canceled. I told my CC company it was legit and called Canon support right away, but they told me they couldn't do anything about it and I have to re-order and go to the back of the line. You can imagine how I feel.

Yeah, it's happened to a bunch of people. Apparently Canon tried to jam through successive charges after an initial flag.

I work with life forms other than human that are sometimes scared off by shutter sounds and in other places where silence is important. I appreciate that others either need the sound or are helped by it. But, flexibility and willingness to ignore minor things is a plus in life.
100% agree with that sentiment
If Canon didn’t give us the ability to have the tally-lamp blink when a shot is taken I don’t know what they were thinking… I don’t care if it’s silent, but I know that fashion photographers have been on about this for a while. I would think they mostly use studio lights that blinks, but perhaps not…
I’ve transitioned to constant / video lights in the studio to make switching between video / stills much more seamless. It’s becoming more common in the industry. Also makes tethering less important as the light that everyone sees on set is exactly what’s being captured.

That stinks, sorry to hear that. Many people here have reported having orders canceled by Canon USA for various reasons. Enough that I would not recommend preordering through them. I suspect you won’t, next time.

On the bright side, there have been some reports that resupply of the R5II will be faster/better than prior releases. Hope that’s true and you get one soon.

I've had the same thing happen but had another that was possibly its equal in annoyance factor. We were upgrading our computers at home and they took a couple of weeks to semi-custom build our systems.

The vendor would put a hold on that amount on our debit card each day to make sure they weren't customizing without a customer. They also didn't charge the card because they couldn't bill us for a product they hadn't shipped. At the end of each day, they would remove the hold for that day and seconds later issue a new hold for the new day.

That meant that every day for two weeks the card was unusable because it hit the daily spending limit due to the hold on the price of the two computers.

Certainly annoying. For preorders, B&H either charges the account then refunds the charge (for a credit card) or puts an authorization hold on the funds then lets it lapse (debit card). For special orders (something they don't stock and need to order from the manufacturer), they state up front you'll be charged immediately for the order even though it won't ship for a while.

Regardless, I just put larger preorders on a card with a limit sufficient for several R1's, so I don't need to worry about holds.

They're an authorized reseller and have few retail stores. As of 12PM EDT they're still advertising "Buy now to receive August 20".

Mine shipped out Friday and is out for delivery now :). I'm on service this week so I won't have too much time to really take photos, but I'll be able to play with it at least.

Well, after those shenanigans, I ordered the R5 II on B&H instead this past Friday. And it just shipped this morning, so I guess there's plenty of supply and I didn't need to worry so much about it. Shipped overnight, comes tomorrow... phew!
