Canon EOS R5 Mark II Images & Specifications

This Mark II upgrade seems pretty solid! It incorporates many features and improvements Canon has released over the past four years, all packed into the R5 body. I definitely need one! Haha. It may not be as groundbreaking as the original R5, but it's promising enough for me to want one.

Has anyone seen a picture of the back of the camera yet?

On the ergonomic side, I'm pleased to see the on/off button on the right side. Hopefully, it will be easily reachable with the thumb.

However, there's no mention of illuminated buttons or GPS. I was secretly hoping for these "features", lol. It’s a small detail, I know, but they were important to me. Anyway, it seems like an exciting upgrade! : )

I haven't tried the R3 yet. How does the EVF compare to the R5's?

„Capture video and stills simultaneously with no interruption“

So I can shoot RAW stills while recording an oversampled 4K60p (4KHQ) video? Did I really understand this correctly? Will the shutter speed for the RAW still be the same as the shutter speed of the video recording?

EDIT: „Recording image type: JPEG only“

From these specs, the R5II looks to be a great camera, noteworthy updates and upgrades over the R5, which is already a powerful camera.

Improvements in AF, IS, speed, potential boost in image quality and enhancements in video usability will make this camera one many photographers & videographers will consider.

I agree the wording in the title about the memory slots is ambiguous: "Dual Card Slots for CFexpress** and UHS-II SD Memory Cards***"

I'm looking forward to trying a R5II here in Australia soon. Well done Canon.

No mention about blackout free when shooting high burst rate...

Also if I read it right that when we in Video recording Canon allow us to take still photos too but in JPEG only?

Also no mention about pre-capture and no CFe B V4 support then ... dang!
"Pre-continuous shooting is now possible in electronic shutter mode, when the shutter is pressed halfway the camera begins capturing images, and when fully pressed, the previous ½-second of images are written to the memory card."

...from the piece.

I hope the image quality improves with the electronic shutter. It's so great to shoot with the electronic, but banding and artifacts were a deal breaker on the R5 for me. I'm really hoping the new sensor will address these issues.

50 minutes until the Canon event! yaay!
