Now your T2i is 'retro' and 'vintage' which means you can get a premium for it. Sell it to an ironic hipster.

Looks actually pretty similar to the 550D / T2i.... my camera has just gone up in value, it's current again ;-)

That's what I was thinking... the t2i has just been redesigned with a new a new name. Maybe different size... but it isn't anything new... unless I'm missing something. Toy camera DOESN'T COUNT!

More likely it is a repackaged T3i than a T2i. I expect that camera will finally be discontinued.

I still have my T3i, it is a solid camera, certainly more than good enough for casual use.

That makes sense... they will stop the t3 & t3i. So instead of 5 levels of crop sensors, they will have 4.

I thought that it's a replacement for 1100D, not 700D? It's supposedly to rival D3300, not D5300. Are we getting a wrong image here by thinking it will be above the Rebel T3i and others?

hmmm... My t1i finally got surpassed in all of canons line up. Guess its time to start looking for an upgrade.

It looks to me like Canon just released something for quick increased cash flow from cell phone users or have a stock pile of digic 4's. Or both. It will serve a purpose. Now they need to get down to business as Hasselblad has entered the high end DSLR market now with a 24MP sensor using Carl Zeiss glass. Will Canon answer with a higher end than the 5D Mark III landscape model?

Nope, the main difference between the T2i and the T3i is the articulated LCD screen and wireless flash support, which the T3i has.
The T5 / Kiss X70 has a fixed screen and no wireless support like the T2i . While the internals look indeed like a T2i, it seems they skimped a bit with the T5, i.e. the LCD has only 460,000 dots (T2i/T3i 1040,000 dots), the viewfinder is only 0.8x (instead of 0.85/0.87x), and it seems to have no spot metering - the latter means it perhaps still uses an older exposure system, and not the TTL 63-zone system of T2i/7D etc.
They also skimped on the battery. Overall, a camera that is a little lighter than the T2i, but not smaller, a tad bigger than the T2i.

So Canon now have four similarly specified 18MP "Rebel" (out of date name, btw) on sale? I can see the marketing logic: confuse the customer and leave them at the mercy of the camera store retailer! Trouble is that I think they're all too confused now; I had to explain to one lady looking at Canon DSLRs in the shop window, the reason that she couldn't find the 550D she was looking for, was because it had been superseded three times and most stores were now out of stock. She seemed baffled and asked me what the difference between all the new models was; I couldn't answer off the top of my head! :

The 1100d had the same 63-zone exposure system as the 7D. And the battery life exceeded the 600D. So in the 1200d it probably remains the same.
