Still, the rebate of the T3i at B&H ends on April 21

That might be a good sign for an imminent release of the T4i, but indeed a very small one. If Canon waits long enough for some of my lenses to die, rather than to upgrade to a new crop sensor, I might simply switch to Nikon.
