I've used it quite a lot for traveling (light) and for being cheap (in case of theft) together with my 200D and it performed (both photos @250mm plus cropping):

Great shots Maximilian! I recall you took them on Kos. I think it is the best of your many fine shots of an Emperor Dragonfly and one of your best BIFs.

I would like to see them make an RF-S 22mm or 24mm pancake. I had the EF-S 24mm but sold it as I moved away from adapted lenses. But now I wish I would have kept it.

An RF-S 22mm would be very welcome. I have a very beaten up M100 and EF-M 22mm which has been my go to pocket camera for years. (I tried a Fuji X100 but didn't get on with it, or its price.) A small RF-S camera and 22mm lens would be a nice upgrade.

They never release anything anyway. If i every buy a Canon APS-C camera, i will be perfectly happy with Sigma offerings.

If only Sigma would introduce a small and light 50-140 f/2.8 DC OS C. I already own most of the rest.

Sorry, to correct you, but the dragon is a male southern migrant hawker or blue-eyed hawker (aeshna affinis).
But I fully agree that the barn swallow is overall one of my best shots ever.
Especially when you think of the nine dot diamond AF system of the 200D

Considering that Canon already has a compact affordable RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 28mm f/2.8 primes and somewhat more expensive 24mm f/1.8, my guess is that the first RF-S prime will be pancake design 20mm or 24mm with the maximum aperture of either f2 or f2.8.

It will probably also be about the price. If it costs a few dollars, there will probably be people interested in buying it.

I would welcome that. Knowing the EF-S 24mm, I would prefer it a little wider, eg. the 20mm you mentioned.

I felt the same with my EF-S 24mm f/2.8. I don't think we will wait for too long, as far as I remember Cannon Rumors wrote last year about two (at the time of writing) upcoming RF-S power zoom (PZ) lenses (wide angle and normal) and one fast RF-S prime. One zoom lens is out and that is 14-30mm f/4-6.3, the other are probably coming this year.

It's been a pretty confusing gap in their crop lens lineup for quite a while. Something like copying the Olympus 40-150/2.8 would be a great lens for APS-C - not exactly 'small and light', but not too bad and excellent optically. Unfortunately, with the introduction of the 17-40/1.8 it seems more likely that Sigma may look at updating the 50-100/1.8 instead and I'd find that a much less interesting lens.

As someone who likes 50mm for wide angle shoots and is spoiled by 100-200mm (in FF terms):
Ultrawide is needed sometimes so maybe I would prefer a zoom with the same max. aperture.
Maybe I will be fine with the EF-S 10-18mm lens which has an image stabilizer for the R50 V and can be used with a variable ND filter inside the RF-EF adapter. Wide open is not too important at UW for me.

RF-S 28 might be a great choice if it has perfect image quality especially very high contrast in contraligh/no ghosting, low distortion and overall clarity + good closeup range.

And yes: EF-M 32 1.4 is a stellar lens which would be very welcome in the RF world. Maybe with the same 43mm thread I have a variable ND filter for.

Given that there already is the 28mm pancake lens for RF there is little hope for a pancake in a similar range as RF-S I guess.
28mm is too long for my personal taste so I would have prefered a 24mm pancake as well.

I should clarify: I'd like an RF-S pancake lens equivalent to a 24, 28 or 35mm FF.
