Two New Lenses, Including an RF 85mm f/1.4L VCM Coming September 9

Louder for those in the back:

CINEMA CAMERAS DO NOT REQUIRE IN-BODY IMAGE STABILISATION

Filmmakers don't want or need it. The camera will be on a tripod, dolly, crane, steadicam, gimbal or some kind of rig that lets the creator control and customise how they want their shot to feel when including camera motion, and any external stabilisation solution will be far more effective than IBIS.
It's funny that I can feel already your stress to defend..! It's ok take it easy.. lol!

Game time. First C50 video above. Open gate. Record button on the handle. Small body, I like.

Same setup as r5. One sd one cf express slot. No ND.

Also like that it can record two aspect ratios at the same time. Pretty cool for quick turn projects.

I’ll keep my R5C for now though.IMG_1861.jpegIMG_1862.jpeg

those "cinematographers" who saying "camera dont need ibis" are dinosaurs who doesn't follow. Evolution even gave cinema cameras autofocus. Camera has this small factor for a reason. And this reason is different than C80, 400 etc, because they already exist. Small = portable and easy to run with. I hope this digital stabilization makes some difference

That's your point ok BUT for the size of this camera it should have IBIS for run n gun filmmakers just like the other brands do it and succeed! Canon always bring the cripple hammer in the game no matter what... I don't like it and I won't live with it... period! If you are ok with it then it's your problem..!
I am happy with this camera.
I do not have any problem, so it not my problem.
If you want a camera like this with IBIS then request it from Canon.
Canon made exactly what I asked for.

Just get the R6 Mark III when it comes out, it'll have IBIS. Or the R1 or the R5 Mark II or the R3 or the R7 Mark II...

You can use a small camera that doesn't have IBIS and get great results. It can be potentially problematic to not have a fully locked sensor for a lot of more involved applications, though. That's all us "cinematographers" are saying. I personally like to use small cameras like these with a cinesaddle style support, and don't feel like I need IBIS in that situation. For me, it's only useful in situations where something is happening and I feel like I absolutely need to get a shot and I wasn't ready for it. If I go into an environment that is that unpredictable, I've been using the 16-28 or 28-70 IS lenses and they work great. I like having the choice. Holding a tiny camera without support is one way to film stuff, but it's not the only way, and in my case it's rarely something I do because it's not very ergonomic (back starts hurting after a short while) and has a specific look to it that is rarely useful for the type of projects I work on. So yeah, would rather have a small compact camera that I could mount on a car without any issues. And I'm going to try to support it properly for handheld work anyway, so no IBIS is not a big deal.

The cat is out of the bag. Everything is leaked. The specs are accurate. Canon also opted for a 3” rear LCD panel.

DUAL ISO is 800 and 16,400 wtf lol
If this is true, I prefer this more than the triple. I find 6400 ISO to be far more usable than 3200 (and I am still thinking if I will ever use 12800 on whatever basis). Obviously, personal opinion.

And the 4 mounting points around the lens? For a secure EF or PL adapter, right? I hope they offer a small EVF accessory that mounts in the hot shoe. Otherwise I've got
a Zacuto Gratical Eye that's been looking for a place to land.

My theory has always been, that the primary reason for Canon to make the R5C, was because they needed a portable/compact and "affordable" 8K videocamera for their VR180 lenses/ecosystem (where 8K/highres is important). So yes, I totally agree. C50 doesn't sound like an R5C replacement from what we have heard so far.
If its the last R5C that Canon will manufacture. Then yes, from an EOS Cinema line perspective, it has been replaced with a camera that does not have 8k. By definition, a replacement does not have to be equal to that which it replaced. Cars, homes, anything can be replaced by dissimilar item. Ludicrous to believe that if one replaces something that item must be identical or similar. If you get replaced on your job, that person may or may not be of equal skills and qualifications of yourself. They may get paid less. You were replaced.

True, those new Lumix full-frame cameras have active cooling and still overheat.
Even the R5 II overheats recording RAW video with the cooling grip.
Ever looked in the cooling slot of the R5ii?

IMG_2613.jpeg

Wonder why it overheats with the cooling grip now? Im not a fan of the cripplehammer phrase, but absolutely zero fins on a heat dissipating surface is not the most efficient cooling design.

Love this camera, but like I mentioned before in this discussion, the camera was overheating carrying it in photo mode in Panama City, Panama walking in and out of shops. This is the number one reason Im looking to upgrade.

I've got both the R5 C and R5, and honestly, when I'm shooting with my ultra wide lenses, I just prefer the look from the R5C. The IBIS on the R5 can get a little jittery or wobbly, but the R5C's new firmware adds The Motion Vector digital IS is seriously impressive. This might even be a reason why Canon didn't include IBIS in C50.

in that Italian video, the guy mentions the roll, tilt and pan data being managed by the camera via meta data

i cannot understand why Canon did not put IBIS on this camera. That was the most obvious thing to do and they left it out! They made a camera with all bells and whistles in a compact size so as a wedding videographer which I'm working now with a c70 and fx3 I could do the move and buy the c50. Ibis is not an option anymore on these compact cameras but a must have for run and gun situations and ease of use!! I'm driving mad about this... they need to fire the ppl that took that stupid decision really! Nikon, Sony, Panasonic have Ibis and Canon for whatever reason they don't... I'm really tired with this company!!
Many including myself much prefer no IBIS. Hard to please everybody but luckily Canon and for that matter no other brand is twisting our arms to buy a particular product. Many options out there so rather than whine about it - just buy something that suits your needs.

On Septemb er 9, Canon will be announcing the replacement of the EOS R5 C with the launch of the Cinema EOS C50. Canon will also be announcing two new lenses that will pair well with the Cinema EOS camera. Canon RF 85mm f/1.4L VCM In July we reported that an 85mm lens would be […]
