The positive thing I have with all the VCM lenses: I'm not feeling tempted at all to buy any of them, so saving my money. That's due to my special interest in night photography, but any niche has it's rights (and I have no problems with all the other photographers who are happy about these new lenses).
In any way: A 'slightly' wider selection of RF lenses would be nice (as I'm starting to feel like a Mac user ...).

to launch a 14f2 over 8 years after Sigma launched its 14 1.8 would be pretty disappointing. it would also be many years after Sony launched their 14 1.8 which is quite small. So it has to at least match or else it is shameful and adds more evidence to why a closed system restricts photographers from innovation (even pretty old innovation that's already been around for years!)
I do aurora and I hate how limited the options for UWA fast are compared to Sony. Canon should do better!

The best you can get for Canon (RF): Sigma A 14/1.8, Samyang XP 14/2.4. Sigma A 28/1.4, Canon EF 35/1.4 II, Sigma A 40/1.4 plus some longer lenses. Laowa has too much chromatic aberration for me (e.g. 15/2.0) and I'm recently looking into the Pergear/7Artisan 14/2.8 which has little 'coma' but a strong vignette. So it might be a useful lens when the weight is critical.
I'm often using stacking and that will result in ugly - moiree - patterns when I apply the distortion correction first. So VCM lenses are simply not suitable for me.
