Impressive propaganda pieces on behalf of Canon... While this may not be the camera of my dreams for my everyday portrait clients, this may be a new camera we can pitch for our commercial clients... I will be very interested in normal reviews not sponsored by canon

7360 × 4912 - Nikon D810

8688 x 5792 - Canon 5Ds

1058 x 880 pixel difference. It just seems like Canon is saying 3 years later, look what I can do!! I'd rather have a better, more well rounded camera. I think 36MP is plenty, even for studio work.

This is really a disappointment. What does this camera do that the D810 doesn't do? And who really needs this many megapixels. I was thinking of buying one just to have in my bag for my portrait shoots but now I think I'll just wait to see what they do with the possible 1Dx Mark II. I'm sticking with my Mark III's. This camera will ultimately fail. Nikon has already done it and is probably working on the next big thing.

Re: Canon Promotional Videos for the EOS 5Ds & EOS 5Ds R

Actually exactly what I have been waiting for, I use a MKII to document artwork professionally, and have a plethora of Canon Lenses. (I refuse to invest a ridiculous amount of money in a Medium Format camera that I will have to travel with on location, or switch to Nikon) to My clients want more pixels, for future-proof images, details, and large prints. I have stitched photos until now to get the res I need, but the 50mp upgrade will save me so much work and allow me to justifiably raise my rates! The 5DsR with no Low Pass filter is a great feature as well for in-studio shooting, where a minor change in angle, distance, or f-stop can kill any moire patters without reducing sharpness. And USB 3.0 thank you!

So when you do 'advertising' photography for your clients are you a propaganda or advertising photographer? :)

Surely any new product will be launched with advertising extolling its advantages? Isn't that just normal business practice? I am sure you also 'advertise' yourself to prospective clients? Or is it propaganda? Is 'advertising' the same as 'propaganda' ?

I am also looking forward to the reviews. But I also take the reviews, and the advertising and promotional material, with a pinch of salt....at the end I have to decide for myself....sift through all the info and decide whats applicable to me or not.....

If we apply your approach for calculations to a slightly different example...

We know that
a) 7x5 = 35
b) 8x6 = 48

by your method difference between a (48) and b (35) is calculated by the following formula:
(8-7)/(1.26) x (6-5)

So by your calculation
48-35 = 0.8
