Ok this is probably in the wrong place but couldn't find anywhere else so here it goes, I have a B&W MRC uv-haze filter on my 70-200 2.8 version II lens but I Just got my new canon xa10 video camera today and want to put a filter on it so i have 3 questions for input, 1-uv filter or just straight glass on it no uv, slim line or regular thickness, and last they make a regular or a wide angle.

Hope to get a few inputs I have to order 1 tonight.

Thanks!

For protection, I'd go with a B+W 58mm filter in the XS-Pro mount (which is slim but has front threads for the lens cap). Skip the extra wide/oversized mount, because of the lens hood. UV or clear, makes no difference.

My tuppence:

The lens won't be wide angle enough to vignette with a regular filter (very wide lens barrel relative to sensor size) so I wouldn't go nuts on the most expensive slim ones.

I am in the habit of using skylight 1A's. Just an old photo habit. UV kills mould. I want UV in my lens. Skylight offers same protection and very limited artefacts, but lets the UV get in when you are using the camera outside.

Oh and get a polariser.
