Cheap sports camera

Hi guys,

I'm doing some sports photography. I love the 1Ds Mark2, which i possess, but 4 fps is way too little. So i'm looking for a replacement in sports photography. I like pro bodies, so i'm thinking about getting a used 1D Mark2 or a used 1Ds Mark2n. What do you think about that? I don't need high MPs, only a fast camera. Is it wasted money and i should go for the 7D? Or is it worth to give it a shot?

7D will get you there and more. You can get them used for around $700 which isn't too bad. Plus it's a lot more portable compared to the 1D series and has more than enough FPS needed for sports.

I have the 1Dsmk2 and the 1Dmk2, and have owned the 7D. Upside to getting a 1Dmk2/1Dmk2n is you have battery compatibility and you know the controls. The upside to the 7D is the newer technology all around. If I were to purchase one or the other, I'd lean towards the 7D or a 1Dmk3 if I was planning to shoot in all conditions.

Portability is not an issue, because i'm used to carry heavy stuff.
Money is the issue, and i wonder, if the 1Dii and the 1DiiN are still worth thinking about.
