I've owned both the 60d and the 7d. The 60d tracking capability should be called tracking inability... It doesn't touch the 7d.

Absolutely, I'd even say my/the 60d doesn't do "tracking" at all (nr do any of the 9pt af models) - they simply have "servo af" which does come handy if you want to do some snaps of a moving object and want the camera do do some linear prediction. But you cannot customize anything. the af doesn't lock on an object, it's really a legacy system and completely outdated by today's dlsr standard.
Agreed. My 60d was gone within 14 days of purchase and one weekend in Key West trying to get some BIF... Never regretted the change and never looked back...

With my 7d, I had a difficult time letting it go, even taking it off of my profile. I loved it! I knew it inside and out and despite some it's shortcomings with regard to noise in the shadows in low light scenarios, I absolutely loved it for all my wildlife and sports work. Loved it...

It seriously took me over 6 months to "let it go" after purchasing the 5d Mk III. Since then I've not looked back either, there is no comparison, except I'd like a better frame rate for continuous high speed and more especially for silent high speed... I love that mode, just wish for much better frame rate.

I will consider a 7d Mk II, depending highly on the specs... I'm looking forward to an announcement later this year!

i concur with Fussy III

60D has better AF overall
7D mk1 has some issues and constantly gives inconsistent AF.
Went over to service centre and didn't find any solutions.

After much testing back and forth,
it seems the AF is prone to problems WHENEVER there is some backlight.

for NON-backlit subjects its great.
60D is great in most situations BUT IT DOESN'T have zone AF
which is a great help
