Coverting 6D video for iMovie

Forgive my lack of knowledge...I am attempting to put together a montage of clips filmed with a 6D and 24-105L. I have imported to LR4...but am unable to easily export into iMovie due to the file type.

I have been using a trial of a video converter but I am hoping there is a free alternative out there. I don't need anything fancy.

How can I take my 6D clips and format them for .mov ?

I think Mpeg Streamclip is pretty much the defacto free transcoder for DSLR video. Compressor also works if you're on a mac.
