Bought over a month ago 2x 64GB 1000x SD and 1x 64GB 1066x CF from local store and few days ago, out of blue the CF just died. Their pricing is competitive, but I wonder if lower price is worth having issues with them.

My oldest CF card (other reputable manufact) bought in April '04 (whooping 1GB for over 300USD) is still working.

Is Lexar as good and as reliable as SanDisk ?

When I got my 5D back in December 2005, I paid over $300 for a 4GB card and I bought 2 and they are still working !!

You will find people on the 'net having SanDisk cards fail on them, and you will find people on the 'net having Lexar cards fail on them.
I haven't noticed any significant skew of cards failures either way. Personally, I have both Lexar (32GB) and SanDisk (64GB, 16GB, 8GB, 1GB) cards and none of them have failed for me. But this is more anectodal than actual data.

I would not hesitate to buy Lexar again.

As far as CF/SD cards go I would say yes. My oldest one is Kingston, then started using SanDisk, some of m microSD cards have been left in water (washing machine filter) for up to 2 months - no issue. Ever.

Other story when comes to USB stick (those failed on both sides). Anyway Lexar has been long in the market, so I'm not dismissing its reputation.
