Wondering if the 5D III's that are shipping now still have the black tape fix for the light leak issue, or whether that was just a temporary fix for the stock on hand and they have a more permanent fix for the bodies being manufactured now?
Do 5D III's still have the tape fix or something more permanent?

The tape fix is permanent. No reason to do anything different, its a commonly used process throught the photography world. Sometimes they use a fancy name like light baffle, but its always just a piece of plastic or paper.
