Double camera, lens choices.

Hello CR!
I've shot with a T21, 40D, 60D, 7D and 5Dmkll. (plus the new 600EX Speedlite)

I have never had more than one digital camera in my possession at a time. However, I recently decided to purchase another copy of the 7D to befriend my 5Dmkll.
With a 1.6 crop and FF bodies at my disposal, I've come to enjoy the advantages of pairing bodies to lenses. I am currently working with a Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 and a Canon 135 L f/2
With this combination, I have the focal lengths of
50mm
80mm
135mm
216mm
My question is, in the Canon lineup of lenses, what should be my wide angle addition? Yes, I would love to spend the money on a 5Dmklll, but I don't see that happening until the price drops a bit. I've been considering the 24 L f/1.4, which would add 24mm and 38mm to the set, but I wanted to get some opinions first. Any thought?

P.S. I shoot indoor sports and parties where light is questionable at times.

If you shoot indoor sports, you should really have f/2.8, which will throw out most of the wide angle zooms from most companies.

One interesting option is Tokina 11-16 f/2.8. On 1.6x crop, it's a nice wide angle range but most of all, very sharp across frame even at f/2.8.
What's nice is Tokina will also work great on full frame when set to 15-16mm. Since it's so sharp, it's like getting a 15 and 16 mm wide angle f/2.8 primes for FF.

One can spend way too much money on Canon 16-35 MkII, but IME Tokina gives you cleaner, sharper images and goes wider to 11 mm on crop body.

Get a 16-35mm. It's a nice ultra-wide zoom on the 5DII and a great general purpose zoom on a 7D.

I agree. I dont have FF yet (hopefully soon) but the 16-35 feels great on the crop bodies that I own. 2.8 has been great for most of my concert shoots so I would assume that it would be good for sports too. As always Rent it just to be sure that its for you. I love the IQ of this lens. I almost always use this lens. GREAT GREAT addition to my kit.

Looks like I'll be renting the 16-35 L as well as the 24 L. As someone who shoots only primes (digital but mainly film) I am open to trying the 16-35. The IQ and unique perspective is a great selling point.

As a wedding photographer I love the versatility of having zooms. And when I get my FF camera I feel like I'll have a solid wedding kit. I have 2 options for focal lengths with this kit. (50d/5d/70-200mm f4/16-35mm II)

50d/70-200 (120-320 eq) and 5d/16-35
and
5d/70-200 and 50d/16-35 (28-56 eq)

24 II, you have the other ranges already, 35 is too close to 50. A 24 II looks like the bokeh of an 85 but wide angle.

Consider 17 or 24 TS-E. Darker a bit but if you are already familiar with manual focus, you could discover so many new possibilities.

Get the 24mm 1.4L II. It's a no brainer and is amazing on a 5D. It will give you all the focal lengths you'll need from 24-200 in your prime setup. I use the 24mm, 50mm, and 135mm for all my pro work with a 7D and 5Dc. It's the best prime setup Ive ever used and is very versatile.
