Asobinet tested it and concluded XD2 is slightly less harsh than XD, but performs very similar in other metrics. No mention of it fixing the patterns XD tends to add to textures.

I find deeprimeHD a bit soft and XD over sharpened, so I hope XD2 fits my taste a bit better. Let’s see when the trial version of DxO PL8 becomes available

Finally! It has a fullscreen preview and comparison option! You can enable 'auto update preview' in the settings as well.

Setting the "Lens Softness' to soft or standard gives me a sharpening level that is sharper than the original but doesn't scream oversharpened.

Running some older files through it, this was shot using a 100D/SL1 with the EF-S60mm, I have to bring the softness correction down to 'soft' and the 'force details' slider to -20 to stop it from looking very over sharpened.
I very much appreciate the preview window with the before/after slider, with the extra tuneables in DPR4 I'm tempted to stop using the full PhotoLab and just use Lightroom+DPR4 instead of Lightroom+PL6. Twelve days left in the trial version
