I've seen a lot of $5,000 deals lately, either sales are poor and dealers have to dump them, or Canon is planning a replacement this fall. Its only two years old, so that seems unlikely, unless its just a minor mid life upgrade like Nikon did to the D4.

I've seen a lot of $5,000 deals lately, either sales are poor and dealers have to dump them, or Canon is planning a replacement this fall. Its only two years old, so that seems unlikely, unless its just a minor mid life upgrade like Nikon did to the D4.

I would expect some sort of replacement sometime in 2015. All other 1D series cameras were around for 2 to 3 years. Only the 1DsMark3 lasted longer. The 1DX was announced in late 2011.

I would expect some sort of replacement sometime in 2015. All other 1D series cameras were around for 2 to 3 years. Only the 1DsMark3 lasted longer. The 1DX was announced in late 2011.

The 1D X shipped about 2 years ago in May or June of 2012. Hopefully, we will not have another fiasco like that this time.

Gray market or not, $1600USD can buy a lot of repair work if it isn't under warranty.
