Would be interesting to know what the production numbers are now compared to just a year ago. I wonder if Canon has slowed them down and by how much. I have to imagine the 5DS has eaten into sales a bit, and certainly sales will fall off some degree further once a Mark 4 is announced. The price it is now must be keeping sales pretty brisk though. $1899 for grey market is crazy. I wonder at what price point Canon breaks even in total costs on this model. Do we see $1899 full US Warranty retail before year end to clear out the stock if the Mk4 gets announced? Fun months ahead for prospective buyers for certain.

That's almost the same price of the 7D Mark II a year ago What a difference one year can bring. But then taht's pretty much what the Nikon D810 is selling for, 2100.

Perfect time for prospective buyers for sure.

Prices seem to drop sharply this time of the year, and combined with currency values, we should be seeing some really low prices between now and years end.

This is seasonal, I don't see it as a sign that a replacement is coming, just a normal cycle as a product matures combined with currency exchange rates and the inventory reduction that happens every year.

For the 5D MK III, that's a triple hit, and a opportunity to buy a great camera for a low price.

The "current" exchange is killing any desire of getting this camera or waiting for 5DMKiv while hoping that the rate of exchange will improve for buyer like me later before the announcement of the MKIv.
