When EOS 7D2 is expecting to be published? Few guys says it will be announcement early next year and shipping starts at summer or it will take much longer to publish.

I see Photokina as a perfect announcement for the 7D.

5D MK III before.

But then there's the Rebel..If it will use the 7D series sensor, then of course it cant be the first to use it, the attention and glory belong to the 7D. So perhaps 7D + 650D in Photokina. But Rebels get announced early in the year, so maybe...both together, and a 5D MK III in Photokina? Argh this is so confusing.

I'm probably upgrading to the 7D II if it has better high ISO performance and an improved AF system. The rest is just bonus.

+1 for Photokina announcement. I don't think Canon wants to release a crop sports body before they can assure that pro's already bought their 1D X for the Olympics/Euro 2012.

Look at SONY's A77 and compare it to the Canon 7D, which we own... Yes the 7D was a great camera when it was released, but Next to SONY's A77, it simply doesn't measure up at all... I'd hate to switch, but I'm contemplating switching to the A77 and the A99 when they become available...

I believe 7D still is a great camera. Sony might have introduced a few nice features but this doesn't make 7D a bad camera at all. It measures up quite well actually, even being 2 years older.

Why one would jump ship for one camera, especially when invested that much into one brand, is beyond me...
$50k worth of Canon gear sounds pretty serious (i'm guessing most are some of the very best glass) and I would not trade it for anything less than a VERY significant leap forward in sensor technology AND way better lenses (which I don't see happening at this moment).

And when the 7D mkII is released, i'm pretty sure it will eat the A77 for breakfast, which won't make it a bad camera nonetheless.

For me, that is personally, it is a non-discussion to compare Sony Alpha A77 with Canon 7D. I like my Canon 7D and I bought lenses that go with this camera and not the Sony.

Sometimes I don't know what to think of all those Camera compare reviews. For example the Sony Alpha A77 does score less than Canon 7D on DPreview. But on DxO mark the Canon 7D is positioned much lower than the Sony Alpha A77.

The question is: am I pleased with the features and quality of the Canon 7D today? Yes. If it gets better, sure I will step up to a Canon 7D MKII (or what it will be called). For the moment I get compliments on my current Sports soccer photos. So why complain. I am just a prosumer.

I believe that Canon 7D successor will arrive maybe spring 2013. (announced in autumn 2012)

Personally, I like to invest more in lenses - for the moment

(pardon my english - it is not native)

And how will Canon make a camera that is *better* than the A77?
They make one now.

The 7D.
+1 ;D

1 + 1.

The 7D is more than capable of holding its own after two years. Maybe by year three it will need an update. I'm with those who expect to see an update around the time of Photokina. I also have high expectations for the next generation. I believe (and hope) Canon will want to raise the bar significantly, rather than just slap a few more megapixels on the sensor and call it good.

Canon sensors have historically been poor at color depth and DR, whereas Sony has done better by those measures (as have the Nikon bodies which use Sony-made sensors). So, it's no surprise that DxOMark rates the A77 over the 7D - keep in mind, DxO is ranking the sensor only. DPReview is giving a score for the whole camera - IQ, performance, build, etc. - and there, it makes that the 7D comes out on top.

DxO also rate the 1D4 lower than the 5DII. I am not convinced that the DxO ratings match real world experience

They rate the 1DIV's sensor lower than the 5DII's sensor - and that makes perfect sense, given that they are close in age (1 year apart) so the technology is not too different, and the 5DII has a FF sensor. It's no accident that the 1D X uses a FF sensor...

But obviously, there's more to taking a picture than the sensor. If the 5DII's AF is inadequate for your situation, it doesn't matter that the sensor is better, all you'll have is a blurry image (with more color depth, DR, and less noise, of course, for all the good that would do you).

The Canon 7D mark II is still somewhat a long time away. I think Canon will be focussing this year on the:

- 1DX
- 5D3
- 70D

The 7D has only been out and hasn't completed it's life cycle yet. Besides, as most people are saying - what will Canon really do to make a big improvement to the current model? As for the 5D2, it has a lot to change and is becoming somewhat outdated compared to certain features of the 7D and even some features of the 60D.

I think 7D mark II in 2013.

No one knows what the 7d life cycle. We just guess it is 3-4 years since its an xD model. Some of 7d features is outdated. The next rebel will surely eclipse 7d in many way. Dont get me wrong, i'm a 7d owner too, but that is how thing goes. With the fast development in technology, things is getting replace by newer techology faster.

My guess we would see the next rebel before 5d3. Like it or not it has been updated annually for the past 4 years. If we are looking at release cycle, 2012 will be a big announcement year. 5d3 overdue, 650d due, 70d due, 7d (somewhat due as it will be its 3rd year next year)

I dont think canon will update every line in the same year, but whom am i to say such things. Canon loves to surprise his minion :D
