Fast Primes on 5dm3

I was testing out my 24mm for an extensive amount of time today and my old 5dm1 and 1dm3 both struggled to get sharp test images. The point of the test is that i plan to shoot the 50L on the 5dm3 and the 24 on the 5dm1 and on occasion the 1dm3 to bring it closer to a 35mm lens. On the 5dm3 both my 50L and my 24L nailed it so sharp it was sick. That wasn't even using calculated time consuming multiple taps to the focus which i do as a standard for large aperture shooting. It was using single shot single point focus not spot focus. I even tried it in servo which i always found screwed up shooting with primes and it was crazy that it worked so well. This camera is very intelligent. Its like these primes are built for future cameras not older ones.
No I don't want to go thru all the work and post those. :)

I'm wondering if i should have gotten the 35 1.4 instead of the 24L now. Been looking at my montana trip photos from 2009 and wow! I packed my 5d and my 135 and 35 at the time. Both have been sold off in 2009/2010 i think. I havent worked with the 24 enough to know I can maximize it yet but my meta data suggest 24 is a most used focal length on my 24-70. Although most of those are on a 1dm3 and about 1/3 are on a 5d. This suggests a 35 is prob most used from a focal standpoint since they were mostly 1dm3 shots. Its also tricky since the 24 really only works well on the 5dm3 and i wanted to use it on the 5dm1. Oh well we shall see.My wedding season is not winding up for a bit yet. I was thinking of trying the 24 on the 1dm3 for marathon finishline shots just not sure how well it would wok in servo on a 1dm3. Tempted to try it with the 5dm3 but RRS plates havent been sent yet and i only have another week before the huge marathon...

Well generally the 85L is slow. It is basically its only imperfection and likely the only change should Canon consider a III. I prefer shooting with the much cheaper, but still very sharp and wide 85 1.8 for this reason.

In terms of the 35L. My favourite Canon lens. Beautiful. The 24 is very nice too, but a bit too wide a prime for me.
