Finding a used 35mm f/1.4L

Is it me, or is it very hard to find a good deal on a used 35mm f/1.4L lens? I'm looking to buy one, but it is so expensive. So I thought I might go the used route, but there isn't much of a discount there.

So, I guess my other question is, what does this say about the greatness of this lens? I'm guessing people who own these lenses don't want to part with them. Am I correct? Should I just bite the bullet and buy it?

It is a very nice lens. I got it new during the large rebates earlier this year and am very happy with it. It's going to be difficult if you're trying to get it for less than 1k. Even at the Canon refurb store, it's about 1200, although that would drop closer to 1k during one of the refurb store's sales...

I have two 35 1.4Ls and may be selling one of them soon. Virtually mint condition, aside from scratched hood and some microscopic (and I mean tiny) marks to the body. Optics perfect. Send me a PM for a price.

They're not too hard to find, I've bought and sold several. I just sold my 3rd copy actually for $1150. What do you consider "so expensive." L lenses dont lose much value if they are taken care of.

I have mine on craigslist now for $1200 firm I bought the lens two months ago but rarely used it since I have a 24-70. If you live in the bay area I can meet with you.

Save you money, Holding on to it and keep keen eyes on craigslist and ebay. Soon you will see the deal and snatch it up! I got my 50L for 1100$! thats like 500$ off and it was un-used!

It's my favorite Canon lens. I'd buy used/refurb from a place that accepts returns. Even though it's a great lens you can still get a dud. Check B&H refurbs.
