Interesting Canon Senor Shift IS Patent

Appears to relate to using full frame lenses with sensor based IS to allow greater stabilisation on APS-C bodies. They're probably thinking of movie shooters shooting handheld in place of steady cam systems (sorry, I'm not a video users so I don't know the correct terminology for this).

Interesting that Canon appear to be considering sensor shift IS though,after all this time pushing lens based IS.

Yes, but it won't be available on FF cameras any time soon.

It's explicitly stated to be for APS-C.
