I'm not sure about the other countries, but here in Australia when we had demonstrations of the new cameras done by both Nikon and Canon two days apart, the D800 shown was still a pre-production model while the 5DMkIII was a brand new retail unit straight out of the box...

This leads to the obvious questions, are the results posted for pre-production or retail product and why haven't the Canon results been posted yet?

Sounds like we were lucky in Perth, Western Australia to have them already. The first shipment that I am aware of arrived March 22nd. Of course they all went out for pre-orders...

Looking forward to seeing the DxO results of their testing once done. I was very impressed with the camera when giving it a test drive on the Information Night on the 22nd. :)

Not only the results, DxO has not updated their DxO Pro Optics 7 software. And thats something I paid for.

It usually takes them a fair bit of time to update the software for a new camera. Keep in mind that the modules consist of camera+lens, so they'll need to create a new module for the 5DIII with each of their supported lenses. It took at least a couple of months even for the PowerShot S100, which has only one possible lens...

If I am not mistaken, they carry out the testing with RAW, so maybe the issue with DPP is holding them back...

They don't use RAW converters, that's not an even test. They just look at the RAWs themselves, not converted or touched by anything.

Perhaps, but you can't even look at a RAW without an update.

Yep, I am sure their testing works directly off the RAWs.

The consumer software I mention does all the NR and other adjustments on the RAW - the beauty of their software. I use it on images I plan to work on. Some of the best tools I have used on 7D RAWs.
