Is the Nikon D3200 the real competitor of the 5D3? (Instead of the D800)

The 5D3 and the D800 are 2 completely different cameras. Yes, they are both excellent for what they do (or mainly aimed for) but very different. I see the only thing they have in common is they both have been released in Q1 of 2012. That's it. Why compare them then? Even Nikon said somewhere (correct me if I am wrong) that the D800 is not really a replacement for the D700. How about the D3200? Well, it is supposed to be a replacement for the D3100. But the (rumored) specs are definitely closer to the 5D3 than the D800, that's for sure.

What do you guys think?

Makes perfect sense. I agree that it's foolish to compare the D800 to the 5DIII, instead, let's do as you suggest and compare the 5DIII to the D3200...and the D800 to its real Canon counterpart...the Canon T4i/650D (which would win, of course, because it's 18 MP sensor will feature a significantly higher pixel density than the D800, as do the last three xxxD bodies).

Honestly, not sure if this is trolling or just silliness, but being the wee hours of the morning here on the East Coast of the US, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...

The 3100 is a cheap DX (cropped sensor) camera.
The only thing rumored to compete with the 5D MK3 is the replacement for the D700 (D700x/s?).
