I'm wondering how the release of the R6 MKIII might affect R5/R5 MKII sales - the difference between the 24MP of the R6 MKII and R5 was quite significant but the 34MP of the MKIII is bringing it much closer to the R5/R5MKII's 45MP sensor ??

Is this also hinting at a new RF 24-105 f/4L? If you zoom in you can see the 105mm end and the lens hood design looks new. I'd be super down for an improvement of this lens!

Years ago, I thinked that R mount was a technical move; now I think it was only a piece of marketing.
Canon R mount is still closed, so best move is buy a Sony camera (or other brand) and enjoy lenses from others manufacturers.
In 2025 there is no way in a thing SO CLOSED as R mount.

Well, I still have my R. Great for portraits. I am amazed at what the R6 Mark III offers as an upgrade for someone like me (in 2 years ). For me, 32mp is a sweet spot.

I added some specs. I was wrong about IBIS, and I am happy about that. It doesn't look like it's getting the DIGIC accelerator.

I have an R5 Mark II and an R8 (that's my beater camera I take when I'm doing something where the camera could get hurt) along with 12 lenses. I don't think I'll buy the R6 Mark III unless something happens to the R8. (Along with the Leica Q3, my insurance agent is asking if I may have too much camera gear.)

That´d really be wonderful! I can't really tell from the pic, but maybe it is the rumored 24-70mm F2.8 IS VCM? Anyway, I´m looking forward to mkii´s hitting the shelves

BTW: I´d love a RF 24-130mm F4 L or a 200gr lighter 24-105mm F4 L. Just saying... maybe drop the IS to save some weight.

I am pretty sure I will buy the r6 iii. I currently own an r6 i and it would be nice with a second body. Usable electronic shutter, better dynamic range, autofocus and effectively a 1.25 tc built in sound like a reasonable upgrade.

There is no such thing as too much camera gear. Same with guitars. If your budget allows it, enjoy the hell out of every piece of equipment you can get. But get rid of the stuff you are not using.

I now have 19 cameras. Though, 14 of them are film, and every one of them has had rolls go through them. I have a lot of lego... my vices!

I haven't read all the comments in the other R6III thread, so maybe it has already mentioned...

But I'm 99% sure the photo from Alan Photo is just a mockup - an edited photo of the R6II. I think it is also confirmed by the new image from Canon France. Look at the microphone holes. It looks like they are on top. When looking at photo from Alan Photo they sit at the front just as they do on R6II.

Would say from this second picture leak, the design of camera looks more like the same as R1 and R5m2, and not like older R6m2...

To answer the question from the article of "will you buy it?," the answer is yes. I currently have a R5 and R6. I've held off on updating both of those, but the R6 is definitely the one of the two that would be first up for an upgrade. I shoot events, weddings, headshots and real estate. So really, any improvements in my camera are welcome.

The most appealing thing is the 32mp sensor. 20mp has been enough for most applications, and the 20mp is actually preferred to 45mp for some applications such as reception photos at a wedding. However, I'm careful to use the R5 instead for images that might require a lot of resolution or cropping. It will be nice to close that gap a little and not have to think about it as much. The 2nd thing for me is going to be the updates to the autofocus.

I guess the real question for me is not whether I will buy the R6III, but will I buy a 2nd one of them when I replace my R5, or get the R5II? I do definitely enjoy owning the R5 series and having the top-end grip-less camera, and the plan has been to get the R5II eventually. But the R6III might change that. We'll see

  • This would suggest a pretty quick sensor. The EOS R1, which has the fastest readout speed of any CMOS sensor is 1/320. The EOS R5 Mark II is /250.

This is (must be) with mechanical sensor for the R6III. I don't think it tells much about sensor readout speed (*). If it was 1/320 with electronic shutter it would be a completely different matter ( => very fast sensor readout).
It is a good and fast mechanical shutter being able to do flash sync at 1/320s. But with a non-stacked sensor I wont expect the R6III to be able to do flash-sync at all with the electronic shutter.

Well, it's all faster than the R52, and it has a fast readout speed for 45mp. The R1 is 1/200 mechanical. It's electronic first curtain is 1/320, cropped 1/400.

We don't know the "normal" flash sync speeds. The R1 is 1/400 full width and 1/500 cropped.

We don't know for sure obviously, but all signs point to a fast sensor.

Oooh, I hope the stop-motion body will let me use the USB tethering AND HDMI at the same time.
Maybe it will this time around with the camera going to a full-size HDMI port.
