Did you visit those places during winter? I find most landmarks in Japan rather crowded.

I visited these places in April/may 2016, high season for tourism in japan + golden week. During the day it was crowded, but during blue hour or early in the day (6-7am) there is almost nobody.

The Bamboo Forest was the only place where it was difficult to take a photo. I had to wait 2 hours to take a couple of shots with almost nobody in the path.

For information at this moment my travel gear was 5d mark III / 16-35 F4 IS / 24-70 II / 70-200 F4IS.

Now I upgraded to 5d mark iv.
