Most popular cameras

Please stand aside while the delivery truck brings the salt needed for reading this link.

Data like this (6M online photos) is a fairly small sample and it only tells us that there are uploaded a lot of pictures which are supposedly taken with a 5D3. Does it make the 5D3 very popular? - what if it's one totally obsessed 5D3 shooter who is uploading every thing photo he (it's invariably a he) to 500px and all the other sites?

In short, the old adage about "I don't trust statistical data unless I have manipulated them myself" stands tall.

Thank you for making my day :)))))

Neuro posted flickr's data stats where there were 7 iphones and 3 canon bodies 5d2, 3 and I think the third was a rebel in the top ten. 500px is a more serious amateur photographers.

The only conclusion for which I need less than a truck of salt :))) is that people really do prefer Canon DSLR at least for hobby.

When they try to pull these stats I wonder if the Canon naming system gets multiple counts; i.e. 5D, then all the 5D added again in the the 5D Mark II and so on.

Seems to me when looking at somewhere like 500px ( which should be called 500pp ;) ) the Canon and Nikon FF cameras are pretty even.

What is the demographic of those who post photos to 500px?

Using that as a measure, only measures the popularity of cameras for those who post to 500px.

If I had to guess, the most popular DSLR are the D3000 series and the Rebel T5/T6 series. Simple economics. They are the lowest cost DSLR's. Entry level for mass consumers. They are also sold at Target, Walmart, and many other stores right there on display. Warehouse stores have pallets full of kits.

Other than a dedicated camera store, the only store where they have anything higher than a D5500 or 80D is Best Buy. My local Best Buy has everything on display except for the pro flagships.
