Hello,
First post on CR! Been a long time follower.
I have a 60D with an 18-200mm and 50mm f/1.8. I'm buying my next lens this spring and have my eye on the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8.
I have weighed the options of the fast lens vs. IS of the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 and am leaning more to the sigma. Primary reasons are that I am unsure how useful IS really is in the 18-35 range and with my 50mm f/1.8, I don't really care about the reach difference between 35 and 55.
I should also add that I own a tripod and am interested in the 18-xx range because my 18-200 is not very good at the 18 range. I take lots of pictures of family and this range is very nice on the crop sensor.
Does anyone have any input on this? Any reason to not buy the Sigma? Just trying to make sure I don't spend $1000 on the wrong lens.
Appreciate any replies.
