Huh, another patent that looks like it might be aimed at lens vignetting. Canon seems intent at improving that aspect.

Its a bigger issue for mirrorless cameras where the lens sits closer to the sensor. There are various solutions to reduce it, Canon always tries to find the lowest cost method.

That would figure. Apparently they're more intent on doing mirrorless FF correctly than quickly.
