I need to tap into the wealth of knowledge from the canonrumors gang.

I will be doing lots of shooting later this summer with the new 1Dx and 5D3 (hopefully) with the 400mm f/2.8 MK I lens. I expect that these cameras will easily be able to drive the autofocus on this lens.

My question is with teleconverters. I have the 1.4x II and figure that will provide excellent results. Is there any reason to think that the 1.4x III will perform noticably better than the 1.4x II with the older lens? I could see having the 1.4x II between the newest lenses and bodies not being preferable.

Thanks for any help.
