RF 100-400 possible problem

Curious if anyone else has noticed this beside me and I haven't seen it discussed on here. I'm using an RF100-400 on my EOS R and it seems after a short time the lens seems to be putting off a hot plastic odor for lack of a better way of putting it. Has anyone else noticed this happening with their lens? I'm wondering if I'm going to run into a problem with it? It's not very old and I haven't used it much. It would of course be just my luck........

My two copies don’t smell when being used for extended periods.

No issues with mine. I'd return it if possible or send it in for service.

Dang, that doesn't give me a lot of enthusiasm. Maybe a trip to Canon to have it checked over is in order.......

I have the Mk1 version of the ef 100 -400 and use it on my R and R5 and haven't found any problems. In fact, the results from these combos are excellent.

Sorry, Benny, but the OP is complaining about issues with the RF 100-400.
In addition, the two EF versions are L lenses (pro built) and the RF is not.

Sounds or better smells like internal components (AF, OIS, wiring, ???) overheating.
Canon Service...don't wait any longer!
