I am curious about the distance between you and the bird. Can you see it in the Exif?
Edit: probably around 7 to 9 meters?

Probably a bit closer than that. I wouldn't normally bother with such a common bird otherwise

I was experimenting with my RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM lens with R5. Great crested grebes and a couple of swans ready to nest.
