Firmware Version 2.0.7 incorporates the following enhancement:
1. Adds full-time manual focus, which allows constant manual focus adjustment in both One-Shot and Servo AF modes.*
*This function is enabled when used with compatible cameras.
2. Adds the ability to use the focus ring as a control ring.
Example: By assigning the control ring the ability to change the aperture, you can adjust the aperture without click sounds being recorded by the microphone.*
*This function is enabled when used with compatible cameras.
3. Improves other system stability.

Has this firmware update been pulled? After a search, I arrived at a Canon page that gave the info above and a link for firmware 2.07 but the link lead to 2.06 only...
I'll check again in a couple of days.

Ah-ha, now CR has a page with an explanation on it. Only a Mac version is available so far. I was wanting a Windows version. Seems like it is a slow rollout.

It always nice to get a free update. But it also means that they don't plan on a new version. Since it's my most used lens, I'd appreciate if they can make it a bit lighter/smaller. I've tried the 28-70 f/2.8 and I was missing both wide and tele end. Would be nice if they can do some magic and squeeze the 24-105 f/4 into the 28-70 body.
