Canon EOS-3D

30+ megapixels, 1D-class body
61-point AF system, major functions same as 1DX
Equipped with flash (or speedlite transmitter)
Perhaps equipped with the first 4K movie recording function?
Dual Digic5+ processors for 6 FPS

Canon EOS 70D

Compact Body with better AF and continuous shooting than EOS 7D
22MP and DIGIC5+
19-point AF
6 FPS

Why release a body (3D) with specs that make 1DX and 5DM3 owners lust for? the 5DM3 is already pulling some 1DX customers into a cheaper body. If I was making some decisions at Canon, I would make the 7DM2 entry level FF to compete with Nikon d600 as there are plenty of crop bodies already.

I think if a 3d is going to be released as a high mp camera it has to be aimed at the studio.

High MP
Avg AF
Low FP
Amazing DR
Amazing IQ
5d3 level low light

Sport is covered by the 1dx, and general is covered by the 5d3...

3D actually make sense to me. Nikon has 36MP D800, so Canon need a high MP camera to response to D800. I don't know Canon will make 7D2 to FF or have 6D to response to D600.

If the 3D is supposed to be a response to the D800, does that make the MKIII competitor the rumored D600? Doesn't make much sense in that regard, and besides, how would Canon ever release a camera with those specs in the same ballpark on pricing as the D800? With that statline - it's got to be getting near 1DX pricing territory. Probably $5k+

3D could be similar specs to D800 with 3.5K to 4K price tag. 1DX have better high ISO and high FP.

I think it wouldn't make sense to make 7dmk2 a FF camera. Keep the 7Dmk2 a very high class aps-c (above the xxD series), give us a 6D to be the entry-level FF, give us the 3D for studio/portrait/landscape with high DR and IQ. Now that I would buy!
