After a rather stressful printing exercise trying to make 36x24 images fit nicely into 8x10 frames, is anyone else hoping the new canon mirrorless cameras will have a more printer friendly sensor ratio?

Why do shops favour 8x10 frames with very little choice in the 8x12 range?

It's old school. Consider getting prints in frames from Mpix... (or think about a 4:5 ratio when composing - there are framing guide focus screens for the 1-series, for example.)

Depending on your camera model, you can set the aspect ratio in camera and it will show guides in the viewfinder to you can frame it to fit the aspect ratio you want. You will still need to crop to the aspect ratio in photoshop unless you use jpeg.
