There is an EXIF tag ShutterCount but I'm not sure if every model uses it. My Canon R6 II writes the shutter count info into the ShutterCount EXIF tag.

The ‘About’ information has Shuttercount mobile version 7.0 (771). The Live view pack is installed. If I remember correctly I paid about 5 Euro (a long time ago). The app has a 7 Euro plus pack, which enables additional reports like graphs and history. I did not buy the plus pack.
The answer to the original post is that Canon does write shutter count to the EXIF, but only a few users managed to decode and extract it for specific models (and the EXIFTool software was updated to read out this information).
