DPreview has some sample images from a pre-production copy of the lens. First I've seen. Still no night or sky images, but some were shot at f/1.8 with lens on a 5Dsr body. The images look pretty good for daytime snapshots.

That they didn't at least attempt to produce a shot showing coma in the corners (which could be done inside the conference building with the overhead lights) is camera journalism malpractice!

Glad to have the pictures from them anyway, but sheesh! There are people with G.A.S. here, man. Feed them.

I'm inclined to agree

They have stated it's suitable for astrophotography, so I want to see at least one astro-photograph.

Wow!
The barrel distortion looks great.
The images look more distorted than the Samyang 2.4. Kind of like I'm a bit cross-eyed. And no astro shots; that makes me a bit skeptical.
It seems to me much less distortion than the Samyang 14mm F2.8. I have not yet researched the Samyang 14mm F2.4.

This lens can't have any coma because I searched the internet and all pages that this lens came up on had null searches for coma. Therefore no coma associated with the lens.

Seriously one f1.8 star image in samples is not too much to ask. Trying to divine coma from reflections on the ceilings is novel, but a single night sky image at f1.8 would seal the deal.

This lens weighs in at 1170 gms, the samyang 2.4 XP weighs 791gms and the old 2.8 rokinon 550 gms.

Most of my astro sites are accessed through at least a short hike and in the dark. My other problem is that I like to also bring another lens like the rokinon 24mm f1.4 so the weight adds up.
