i watched every game and paused the video whenever a sport photographer was in the frame.

for a year we heard canon will test the 7D MK2 (new cameras, lenses) at the brazil world cup. and now nothing.... the CR sources are all wrong.

or did i miss something.. have you spoted a new camera or lens?

There are 100's of photographers at this event. You can't tell what all of them are using by watching it on a tv. Besides, I'm sure the camera would be somewhat disguised, there would only be a few of them, and the photographers using them would not be using them for all of their pictures. Just because YOU didn't see one on tv allows you to conclude the CR is inaccurate? Ridiculous assertion.

I'm sure that Canon are at least as smart as carmakers in disguising their new products.

In addition to all manner of cheap-looking camouflage, or putting last year's body on this year's mechanicals, carmakers have occasionally used the ploy of badging a car as something it isn't. Back in the 1960s, when Saab was testing their then-new 99 model, they badged one as a "Daihatsu", and tested in plain sight. So it would be really easy to slap on a regular 7D badge, or something else, and only upon close examination would someone be able to tell it wasn't what it said it was.

Let's not forget also, that though the 200-400 1.4x was tested in the open at the 2012 Olympics, it had already been announced and shown, and a black camera body is a lot easier to disguise than a great white lens!

I did see a photographer at one of the games that was using a body with a pop-up flash on a 400mm f2.8. I paused the frame and look as closely as I could. It wasn't disguised in any way that I could tell, but I'm guessing it was most likely a 7D Mark I. It could have been anything.

You would almost have to be at the game to tell otherwise. It's rare that you get a good look at any of the photographers on TV, let alone one with a mythical camera.

No, you're WRONG. I saw one with a huge 7D II label on it. It clearly marked as "Canon prototype, not production" :o

what about the new 100-400mm....
should be easier to spot then a 7D MK2.

well my observation is as good as 70% of the rumors here at CR that never come true... i bet. :P

it´s not only that I did not see it.. as it seems nobody has seen it at the world cup so far.

you would think with all the camera rumor sites making money from .... well rumors... there would something surfaced by now.

Kinda funny. I spend most of my time in Thailand. I know a guide there that is in tight with Canon. He takes the Canon reps with the new cameras around with him.
Abut a year ago I saw him with the Canon group. I snuck up on them while they were shooting birds in an open field. LOL,,, you have never seen so many guys trying to hide and running back to the van.... One came over and tried to talk to me. Trying to divert my attention. I personally don't care one way or another. A funny story you guys might like to hear.
