After 2 months with this lens, I can say without a doubt it’s my favorite RF lens and possibly my favorite overall lens, period! This is such a phenomenal piece of glass.

Yep...amazing lens. Blazing fast and accurate AF, beautifully sharp, great focal range, excellent bokeh, and the stabilization is for real. I've handheld shots at 1+ seconds.

The 24-105/2.8 is CAD $4,100, and the 200-800/6.3-9 is CAD $2,600.

Looks like photography will be an expensive hobby this year LOL.

The 24-105/2.8 may supplant my 24-70/2 in my "small" bag. That is an awesome zoom range for 2.8

From my perspective, the 28-70 mm f2 replaces a 35 mm and 50 mm prime lenses for portrait works and is the main reason I own that lens. The 24-70 mm f2.8 is lighter in mass than the 24-105 mm f2.8 and pairs nicely with the compact 70-200 mm f2.8. The 24-70 mm and 70-200 mm lenses are a good combo for court side sports (e.g., volleyball). The 24-105 mm f2.8 is better all-in-one lens and if I had to just buy one of the three it would be this lens. Lastly, the 24-105 mm f2.8 pairs lovely (though very expensively) with the 100-300 mm f2.8 lens, and the dual lens combo when paired with 1.4x and 2x TCs covers 24-600 mm with two lenses.

I picked the lens up from Canon's website. Ordered it on Jan 29 and they delivered it on Feb 5th.
It showed back-ordered at the time.
I also purchased it while Rakuten had a 10% rebate on Canon so saved $300 USD.
