Stolen Equipment, Paris

Hi Everyone,

Coming into Paris on the RER-B line, virtually all of my equipment was stolen – about ten thousand dollars worth, pretty much my entire livelihood. I don't have all the serial numbers, but am copying those that I do have here, in the hopes that a good Samaritan will find them and get in touch.

Canon 5D Mark II:
3751703693

Carl Zeiss Distagon 25mm f/2,0 ZE:
15919964

SmallHD AC7 Monitor:
AC7-01052

Rode StereoVideo Mic Pro:
0007657

Also in my bag were a Canon 50mm f/1.2L; Zacuto DSLR baseplate; Zacuto Scorpion shoulder support; Sennheiser MKH-416 shotgun microphone; Tascam DR-100; 5 LP-E6 batteries; 1tb Samsung Hard; 1tb G-Tech hard drive; 2 Transcend 32gb CF cards, and more.

Thanks for your help.

There are on-line sites dedicated to listing stolen gear where you might have better luck. We do not know where in the world you are, this site is in Canada, but has members around the world.

I'd use one of the sites dedicated to listing stolen cameras in your part of the world, and, of course, check ebay, craigslist, etc.

You can also search for online photos by camera serial number, so if someone posts a photo online that came from your camera, there is a slim possibility that you can locate it that way. The problem is that cameras are resold quickly, often the same day, and once its sold, the new owner may be immune from and simple legal action as long as he did not know it was stolen merchandise. Laws vary from city to city, so they can be different depending on your location.

Here are a few. Just search for find stolen camera.

Unfortunately, lens serial numbers are not in exif, or at least not for my lenses, so they are difficult.
