The Canon EOS R7 Mark II is in the Wild

I´m really glad Canon has settled in a design philosophy concerning there milc. In 2021, the EOS R, R7 and R5/6 all had - what felt like - a complete different layout. Switching from the R5 to the R7 and vice versa was a pain concerning muscle memory and handling.

Taking the R6 ergonomics makes sense imo. The R5 shares some features with the R3/ R1 e.g. the top LCD, while R6/7/8 will probably share the wheel instead of a top LCD. It also gives us a slight clue about the pricing or at least in which area it will be. If R6iii/ R7ii share similar ergonomics and users beeing able to switch seamlessly, that could benefit Canons sales.

If people keep joking about the R100 I might just get one. Just to take great pics and post here or maybe I'll make a questionnaire: R100 or R5 out of it :)
Why get just one, when you can get two like me! There was a day before touch screens and the other bells and whistles, and we did just fine. Does it compare to my R50 or R10, no, but it is an entry point for a lot of people that don’t have the money or photography as a hobby.

I got mine to take in the field with the kit lens for my 2-week Navy training and posted this bloopers reel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_WQgCAaGKA not bad for the price.

As an R7-only hybrid shooter, count me unexcited about the R6-style body and layout, ESPECIALLY if it means that awful left-sided video dial. Sure the thumbwheel/joystick combo needed some refinement, and the off/stills/video switch could have been tucked a bit further back to prevent accidental activation in the camera bag, but everything you needed was right there at the flick of a thumb. No awkward arching arm to reach the video switch because your left hand is busy bracing a telephoto lens. I hope they at least make use of the larger body and improve the IBIS/Auto Level and we don't have a G9ii situation.

Serious now: The R100 is no joke at all. This camera sells extremely well in many countries, it could even mean a first step into Canonworld for some.
We, forum members, may criticise it, this jewel was never developed for us, but for beginners and users with a very limited budget.
It is nevertheless a very inexpensive camera taking very good pictures.
