My local specialist shop has a pair of secondhand L teles in stock - both in fantastic condition. I've currently got a 70-300 non L and a 10-22 that I can't use on my 6D, I've also a 1.4x II and potentially a 135L to trade...

Getting shut of the 70-300 non L and 10-22 is a no brainer, but I'm cut between the two white L teles that the shop are selling, both with a 12 month warranty. The 70-200 would work with the x1.4, but would I miss the 135L if I traded that in too ? Hmmm...

Thoughts ?

Depends on what your want to use it for. If you're using the 135L for portraiture, I'd keep it. There is big difference between f/4 and f/2. If you need to get to 300mm, then the 70-300L is the way to go. You'll lose a fractional stop to the 70-200 f/4 but gain better performance at 280/300mm. It's shorter but fatter than the 70-200 f/4, but I find that it fits my camera bags better.

If I was in your position, the 10-22, 70-300 and possibly even the 50/1.4 would go in favour of the 70-200/4, although the 70-300L is a very worthy alternative. As previously stated, the 135L has a two stop advantage over the 70-200, and 2.3 stops over the 70-300L at 135mm. As that lens works wonders wide open, I see it as a real compliment to a 'slow' telezoom. The 50/1.4 isn't quite in the same boat compared to your 24-70 II.

On the other hand, if tele is something you're really into, only the 70-200 II is a match for your 24-70 II, and questionably worth selling the 135L for too. Are you sure you can't spare more cash or wait until you can?
