Vintage&photography

Hello ! (sorry for my mystake, i'm french ;D )

I own a 5d2 for the last few years. I bring it everywhere, everytime to capture my daily life. But it missed a lot of functionality. I have a sort of hate/love relation ship with him.
So i just buy a new 5d3

Now i'm not using the 5d2 anymore. But i love it!
Should i sell it or just keep it ? maybe i would love to re-use it in 5/10y when vintage photography will tell us to bring-back to life our old camera ?

What do you think ?

Hi sowlow!

I made the same upgrade path as you did. I was able to get more than 1.000 € for the 5D2 that time.

I don't believe that you'll get a lot of money for the 5D2 but look at the street prices for used cameras.
In Germany a secondhand dealer would pay you 500 to 600 €, if everything is there and in good conditions. More than I would have expected.

I don't belive much in vintage of digital bodies. Difficult to repair if service has ended.
Newer body delivers more.

IQ is similar to the 5D3, you can use the same batteries.

My conclusion:
If you need a spare body, keep it.
If you are looking for a new lens, sell it to fund the glass.

Another point (as you live in France):
Having two 5D bodies and and three L lenses qualifies you for Canon CPS Europe program (silver).

(5D2 still counts)

Edit: By the way: welcome to CR.
