I am afraid that this is the world in the 21st century. And I am afraid it will get only worse.
If you look back in history, mankind developed technology such as camera technology but hardly developed itself to improve human behavior in the last 5000 years.

Mankind is not what it used to be...

I have a sign that I see many times per year when I drive to one of my favourite birding places. Perhaps not as dramatic, but I'm not taking any chances and always drive slowly with me eyes open and ready for whatever.

It says:
Driveway
EASY NOW!
Children playing,
loose animals
and crotchety old hags
