What happens after the R63 announcement?

OK, so this is my first go around with a product launch like this. It is somewhat reminiscent of when the iPhone used to create all kinds of hysteria. I am curious, though, what happens after the announcement? I have signed up to be notified when I can pre-order. I am assuming that paying for the camera up front is part of the deal with a pre-order? When can you expect to receive the order? I am also going to assume that the first wave is going to sell out, so how available will this camera be if you don't get in on it in the initial round? Warranties: Is it worth it to get the extended warranties? I am hoping to be able to write this off on my taxes this year as a business deduction, so the timing of this is relevant.

You usually only pay when the camera ships. Not sure if extended warranties are usually worth it but I do pick it up for the camera bodies and lenses most of the time.

The R6 III is an impressive camera.

I would never ever choose advance payment on any shop, especially on the internet. Even if you pay with a credit card or else that has an insurance.
Every reliable dealer I know (in Germany) accepts payment with shipping.

Extended warranties are typically just additional insurances that increase the time of warranty on product defects but not more.
Depending on the amount of gear you want to ensure it is better to get a dedicated ensurance for that.
I have an insurance, that covers theft, dropping, breaking, lost luggage and most things you can think of expect gross negligence.
Expect an annual fee of 2 to 3% of the list (!) price of the ensured products for something like that.
