What is the low light AF spec. In EV for the EOS 7D MK II ???

True, however, I do like the -3 EV on my 6D in the studio or flash photography outside as it can easily focus on eyes which tend to be darker in contrasty low light situations where available light from a street light or modelling lights can be blocked by the models eyebrows/socket.

I admit it's only in limited situations that I enjoy it, but I do.

For indoor sports photography it might be of use for the 7D II as well. Focussing -3EV doesnt mean the actual shot will be lit the same as well. It's not unusual to set up some pocket strobes around the place. Even so, the ability to focus -3EV will surely add to the ease the camera will focus at -2EV as well.

I'd see benefits, although I won't upgrade my current 7D for the specs that lay on the table now, even when it gets -3EV. They'd have to do better than this :)

Are you sure? Afaik nobody did an actual "real life" 5d3 (-2lv) vs. 6d (-3lv) comparison @-2lv, so the theory that extreme low light capability is beneficial even at higher light levels is conjecture. Will it be faster? Or more precise?

I'm with dylan here, my guess is that dual cross-points on a -2lv rated camera will be "better" than a non-cross on a -3lv rated camera like the 6d. But again, I'd really like to see this tested because any "rating" is just a number and the 5d3 doesn't stop af'ing at -2.00000001lv.
