What lenses do you feel are "missing" from RF still?

With systematic CPL use, you obtain what in the film era you got with the Fujifilm Velvia. Totally saturated, unnatural colors.
But, de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum...
And "Kit" is right, easy to correct sky color with LR Classic, for instance. (The sky often gets overexposed).

I often was there as a child, when Switzerland was far less expensive than France for tourism. Sadly, times have changed.

It is! Several years ago, I led a department split between the US and Switzerland with ~20 people in Basel. I spent one week of every 8 there, and every trip I visited somewhere within a 2-hour train ride from Basel for dinner and blue hour photography (given the geography, that included locales in Switzerland, France and Germany).

Having used the R8 for about a week now, my wishlist has changed a bit:

• A 50-ish 1:1 macro lens with USM and IS
• A 24-70 f/4L that takes a page from the RF14-35L playbook for software based corrections
• An RF16mm sized RF35 f/2

I still want a 200-ish 1:1 macro with USM and IS as well, but that will likely be more expensive than the R8.

I would love this. I really like the 24-105mm L but I don’t use it past 70mm all that often so a smaller f/4L standard zoom would be very welcome. I too am fine with software corrections like the 14-35mm as I’ve heard the corner performance is still quite good despite the major correction being made.

I know this will never happen but I would love an optically great, relatively compact 40mm f/2L. I use my 24-105mm around the 40mm mark more than any other focal length and this could easily be my most used lens. L-series for weather sealing and the Nano USM motor and it would be perfect for me.

Yes! How about a 50/1.4 from the 85/2 playbook: very close focusing but not necessarily true macro, and faster than f/2.8
It'd probably be an STM lens rather than USM, though.

My (sigma art) 50mm lens on the R5 is the least used, I prefer 35mm and that's the one I want Canon to release next, not interested in all this other stuff lol - be happy with 1.4, but I bet it's a 1.2 to match the 85 & 50...

Yes, I want the following (in terms of primes):

- 35mm f1.4L (around 90mm long and 500g heavy - similar to the Sony GM - can skip IS to save bulk) - max $1500
- 40mm f1.8, f2, f2.5 or f2.8 (same size, weight and design as the RF 16/50mm STM) - max $300
- 28mm f1.8, f2, f2.5 or f2.8 (same size, weight and design as the RF 16/50mm STM) - max $300
- 20mm f1.8L (similar to the Sony G and Nikkor Z lenses) - max $1000

Yes, it'd be nice. How about making it 20-70 instead though? Like the recent Sony lens. That lens is still quite small and compact (around 500g). But I would take a 24-70 as well as long as it is considerably lighter and more compact than the current 24-105 f4L (which I own and love, but I do think it can get a bit bulky and heavy sometimes).

The one lens I hope Canon launches soon would be a lightweight version of the 500 mm f4 lens. I know at one time there were rumors of a 500 mm f4.5 DO lens and that would also suffice. At one time I also considered a 35 mm f1.2, but with the 28-70 mm f2, I would find buying the straight 35 mm a bit redundant.

Other than the ones that we know are coming "eventually" IE the 135mm f/1.8 and the 35mm f/1.2, what lenses are you hopeful that Canon will release due to the other big brands having their own version or just your own hopes?

Canon 24-70mm f/4 - light weight kit lens like the Nikon version that extends

Canon 100mm f/2 - the EF version is one of my favorites, and it's small and sharp

Canon 28-75mm f/2.8 - unless they allow Tamron to make an RF version, I'd love to see Canon make this lens

RF-S 16-55mm f/2.8 - The Sony version is small and light and it would pair perfectly with the R7 and R10

Canon 20-40mm f/2.8 - I'd prefer the Tamron yet again buttttt if they're not gonna give it to us, I'd love a small Canon version

RF 40mm f/2.8 or f/2 pancake - Nikon made a really small 40 at f/2, I'd love a f/2.8 pancake for the RP

RF 20mm f/2,8, RF 400mm f/5,6. I think the new RF lenses are generally to heavy, except maybe the RF 70-200 f/2,8, but the lens hood seems to be very bulky.

It looks like the RF28 pancake fulfils that "small 35mm" item on my wishlist

Generally speaking, i hope dat Canon will release (or allow from third parties) lenses with a better quality than the current consumer lenses. I have read tests about these RF lenses and they present good pictures after post processing in body or computer software. Some recent third party lenses are good en require less post work on a computer. There are, of course, the L lenses. But, you need deep pockets to buy them. So, affordable, good quality lenses please for RF as well as RFs in between the consumer class and the L class.
