In the description of the much anticipated camera, it is described as "100% VF". What does that mean?

100% VF = what you see in viewfinder will be on photo. Less than 100% means that on photo will be more than you see when shoot while looking in viewfinder. If you have a DSLR with Liveview mode, you can compare what you see in viewfinder with the image on the screen of liveview. If your viewfinder doesn't cover field of view in 100% then you will see, that area seen on screen is a bit larger that in viewfinder.

The anticipation for the new 5D has been coming for so long, with so much of our time preoccupied by it, what will we do for the next 4 years after the announcement? Go back to taking photos?

Debate and scrutinize over every detail of the specs until it starts shipping.

Um - are we gonna stop because the 5D2 replacement is being announced next week?

Does it have 500mp FF with 30fps and ISO to 512k that's as good as 200 in film days, and all for a mere £100?

No - so, we still have plenty of gossip to engage in.

Seriously, Canon have to have a high MP solution to release at some point, they've already said it, in as much with the 4k DSLR announcement.

Then of course we have the 1DX2 discussions, 5D4/ 5DX2 discussions, we want a 7D2 discussions, and why can't i get a rebel 'ious' that's absolutely great for people with little hands?

Lenses, flash guns, MF, it just never ends. Rumours don't stop because of one release. You'll also have rumours on what Canon really wanted or didn't want to do, but had to do it because of Nikon, sony or public demand, or couldn't do it because they couldn't bring it in for under £5000.

Once the 5DmkII replacement is announced, we can all start comparing it to the Nikon D800 and make ourselves believe that it is superior in every way to the D800. I mean... it has to be right? After all this waiting and delaying... Canon cannot disappoint their loyal minions ("us" ;D) and concede defeat to Nikon right? Just trying to fuel the fire for upcoming debates across the web in camera reviews and comparisons. ;)

lol yes.
Stage 1: denyal.
Stage 2: rationalization.
Stage 3: acceptance.
Stage 4: bliss.
Stage 5: speculation about what will be out in 4 years.

You're absolutely right. What was I thinking? There will be plenty to keep us going for the next couple of years on the 5DIII vs the D800 alone and then we can speculate about an early release of the 5DIV.

Let alone all of the above. Phewww! I thought I'd be lost.
Thank you gentlemen :)

Do what I normally do....

Get out my 20 year old Fuji gx680 and shoot film... for the more important work.

For the low budget or fast turnaround I'll shoot digital.... with the guns and whistles...
but it will still feel like heating up junk food with a microwave oven

Just imagine the human eye has an ISO equivalent of 1 (yes, one) to around 60K ...

Though we still win with the approximate 500-600MP sensors we have in our eyes :)
(for still, non-moving image our eyes see at any instant, not taking into account the wide angle)

So until we get to a point where our built-in tech is begins to lag behind Canon products, we shall have stuff to speculate about ...

After we get to such a milestone, then we shall wonder about how to improve our eyes O_O ...

The future in organic sensors? :)

Start complaining that the new 5d can't use efs lenses, doesn't have dual hotshoe mounts, a four layered sensor, a full hd 3d screen, can't take 3d images with one lens, and that it doesn't have 308 AF points, all of course crosstype and sensitive to f/249, and that 22MP was never enough for anyone, we want 220!!

And then we'll complain that the 5d4 costs too much because it has so much stuff; why does a camera so much better than the rebel cost more?!?!? It should be the same price or cheaper, because I want one.

Why doesn't canon ever give us what we ask for?!?! :P
