Where to find electronic shutter on a 1Dx Mk 3 ?

Not something I would normally would need to use but now Im working on some fairly jumpy birds in southern Spain I think its a good occasion to set it up. I cannot find it on the Menu or the guide book.
Any suggestions ?

If it is possible, it’s likely labeled as ‘Silent LV’ or similar.

There is a S option in Mode but its quieter but not silent.

Thanks for the link but I still cannot find the electronic shutter. The article says to go to liveview. I do and nothing happens, I must be missing something. I am using the quieter s option which is some help but not what I am looking for.

Thanks for both links Neuro. I do not have on my menu “shutter mode “ . Im using firmware 1.8.0. On Red page 4 I have
Multiple exposure
HDR PQ settings
Live view shoot- enabled

If you set the switch to live view

I think you got it Koenkool. It was the video button which I never touch … because I dont do video. I am amazed this was so hard to find.

Ok I got to try it. All set up and ready waiting for a Spanish Imperial eagle to arrive. It turns off after a minute ! If thats all it does its not much use to me.
I had a look but there seems to be no way to change the timing.

On the R series, “metering time” affects that time out, along with the power saving options.

Hi Koen , unfortunately not an option on !dx Mk 3. I cannot imagine a use for electronic shutter if you have to keep turning it on every 60 seconds. Probably miss more wedding shots while faffing with the settings.

Well I wrote to Canon Support and asked how to make live view last longer then 1 minute.
Auto power settings ! Some times the most obvious things are hard to see.
Probably more obvious to R users but I dont have any Rs yet.

The 1DXIII is enough to scare any bird. The R5 silent is so much better. I used to use Live View as mirrorless on the 1DXIII to be silent. I have a Hoodman Loupe - it was all a bit complicated. R5 is much better.

The 1DXIII is enough to scare any bird.

That’s why my 1D X was perfect for BIF. Approach silently from upwind. Focus and start shooting. The machine-gun shutter startles the perched bird, which then takes off into the wind right toward me. With the R3, I have to yell or stomp my foot and it’s much less effective.
