Does anyone know, which body will follow the 5DMkIII?
Is there an 7D replacement in the near future?

Some members wrote, that they would not spend so much money for this body. So I do think too.
I´m interrested in fotographing fast objects as birds or planes.

Thanks
XPS.

p.s.: My local dealer presells the 5D3 at 4.356$. >:(

I think a lot will depend on what Canon may/may not do in regards to a true mirroless camera...If Canon does move forward with a mirrorloess camera, your probably looking at a body based on the GX1 sensor or a APS-C, so were probably looking at something in the $1000-1500 range...Where does that leave a successor to the 7D/60D/T3i's?

If the 5d Mk2 eventually goes away, a 7D Mk2 could move up the chain and take over the 5D Mk2's spot and sell for $1900-2400 but then where would you put a 65D if you also have a mirrorless camera coming to market in that $1000-1500 range? You could slot a 65D in the $1200-1600 range if they basically turn the GX1 into a mirrorless camera and say it's priced at $1000...But given Canon's recent pricing trends, I doubt that...The next 6-8 months should be very interesting for Canon's mid to low level camera range indeed...

One thought that occurred to me is if a mirrorless camera is coming...a great marketing angle for it would be...

"Welcome the new Rebel"

...and it would replace the entire rebel lineup...

I'd love to see that happen, but Canon is a Large and Conservative company. Large companies usually can't react that fast because of all the layers of management. Also doing this would go against their Conservative DNA.

Let us see. When I joined an Canon flashlight workshop last month, the teachers told us, that an mirrorless camera is not highly preferred by the (semi) professional users. They told us that the reasons why this cameraversion ist not preferred are only subjective opinions of the photographers.
One (old) photographer compared it to the introduction of the autofocus. Most of the photographers refused using this feature....

I hope that there will be an replacement of the 7D. My 7D has an Processor error, so I need an replacement of the cropfactor camera.

I hope for a studio replacement for the 1Ds III. the new 5D III has 22MP but it's a mid range camera.

If Canon doesn't make it they either don't care about top studio professionals or they just won't bother financially.

Also i'm hoping they would finally go MF.

Oh I thought the GX1 is already mirrorless, doesn't need to be turned into one. Of course I know what you mean ;) (besides the G1X is the one that replaced the G12, so that makes me wonder if I missed a GX1?? Now I'm confused....) No really I'm completely with you and your thoughts.... let's see what they'll throw at us next!

If the mirrorless camera line was not compatible with EF lenses, then Canon wouldn't get the benefit from the lens addiction that most DSLR enthusiasts succumb to - essentially locking them into the Canon System - something the Rebel line does quite well today.
